Fakir Khana was surreal and humbling — I held 17th century Mughal miniatures in my hand, flipped through beautiful Qurans and Tafsirs from the Islamic Golden Age, and examined incredibly detailed calligraphy from the 8th century with a magnifying glass.
It’s a completely different experience than a museum with polished items in glass display cases. The owner himself is an exhibit, so full of knowledge — each of the 30,000 artifacts has a story, and his lifelong dedication to preserving them shows through when he tells you it.
