Genius, womanist, activist and author Alice Walker refuses to allow her Pulitzer Prize-winning work, The Color Purple to be published in Israel. Good. In a letter to Yediot Books, Alice writes:Israel is guilty of apartheid and persecution of the Palestinian people, both inside Israel and also in the Occupied Territories. The testimony we heard, both from Israelis and Palestinians (I was a jurist) was devastating. I grew up under American apartheid and this was far worse.
…not to mention the persecution that Africans face in Israel right now. I saw video footage and tweets from people talking about the dreadful experiences that Africans face there.
