Girls - “Lust For Life”

Nothing new for today, but this is one of my all time favorite songs and it’s just something that I think everybody should hear if they haven’t already.  “Lust For Life” is the first song that Girls ever released and in my opinion it is their masterpiece.  I don’t know if I have ever related to a song the way I relate to this.  Christopher Owens sings about the happiness and pleasures in life that he wishes he could just enjoy, but for whatever reason feels he can’t.  This is something I relate to more than I could ever express.  “I wish I had a pizza and a bottle of wine”, he sings, before admitting that he can’t because he’s “just crazy”.  I think with this song, either you don’t get it, or you wonder how he was able to get inside your brain and steal your thoughts.  It’s been less than a week since Owens announced that he was leaving Girls.  As long as he’s still making music, I suppose I’m okay with whatever he moves on to.  But even if he never writes another song, I will forever be thankful that he wrote this one.
